Fusion transfer
| Feature | What works / what remains partial |
|---|---|
| Exporter add-in | Installation guidance for Fusion on Mac and Windows; produces a complete folder/ZIP bundle |
| Editable history | Supported sketches, parameters/expressions and modelling operations become editable Macadam features |
| Supported operations | Extrudes, revolves, sweeps, guided lofts, patterns, mirrors, transforms, holes, chamfers, shells, combines and splits; variant and geometry restrictions apply |
| Assemblies | Component structure, placements, repeated instances and visibility |
| Linked components | Exported dependencies and editable supported history; embedded bundles or pinned external versions |
| Direct/historyless designs | Geometry fallback where editable history is absent |
| Mesh designs | Supported mesh transfer |
| Appearance | Supported materials, colours and image assets |
| Unsupported operations | Original source evidence retained and limitations reported in Problems; the resulting design can be partial |
| Ongoing work | Some constraints/canvases, complex fillets/cuts/lofts/surfaces, guitar geometry and broader sheet-metal history |
Install through File → Fusion360 importer… on the web, export from Fusion, then open the complete bundle. The Mac uses its native File menu. Complete bundles include the dependencies/assets needed for transfer.
This is Fusion-to-Macadam transfer, not automatic tracking of Fusion revisions or bidirectional history synchronization. Re-export with the current add-in to capture newly supported data.
Known alpha import defects include particular Les Paul pickup cuts, slanted nut slots and Strat body splits. They are tracked separately from production availability: known issues.
Panels and workspaces
| Feature | Scope |
|---|---|
| Docking | Arrange panels in split layouts and tab groups |
| Multiple instances | Create more than one panel of a supported type |
| Independent viewports | Separate cameras for different views of the same document |
| Floating/separate windows | Supported multi-window workspace arrangements |
| Saved layouts | Save, name and reset workspace arrangements |
| Custom containers | Renameable tabs containing nested layouts |
| Foldable stacks | Vertical/horizontal arrangements with collapsible children |
| Core panels | Scene, Timeline, Viewport, Inspector, Problems, Console, Model, dependency graph and GraphHopper |
| Settings panels | Display, Units, Navigation, Selection, Diagnostics and Theme |
| Global parameters | Shared parameter editing; extraction/presentation as a dedicated panel remains client work |
| Vertical Timeline | Column browsing through nested groups, opening contents in the next column |
| Problems | Severity colours, counts and status-bar reporting |
Native split/resize responsiveness, some scroll routing, graph interactions and loading presentation remain active parity/performance work. A shared layout model does not by itself prove identical interaction quality.
Navigation and rendering
| Feature | Scope |
|---|---|
| Camera conventions | Y-up/Z-up document settings |
| Rotation | Turntable, orbit and trackball modes |
| Navigation | Pan, zoom, focus and supported inertia behavior |
| Standard views | Orthographic/isometric views, with keyboard shortcuts where wired |
| Projection | Perspective and orthographic display |
| Materials | Body/face appearance and PBR controls |
| Images | Supported base-colour, normal and roughness textures |
| Lighting | Sky/light and ambient-occlusion controls |
| Shadows | Native shadows exist; equivalent web shadow support is a post-alpha follow-up |
| Analysis display | Sections, zebra/curvature views, wireframe/contours and hidden edges |
| Theme | Light/dark appearance and configurable web accent; native controls use the system accent where appropriate |
| Menus | Unified web command/context menus with cascading submenus, type-to-search, icons, checkmarks and shortcuts |
The web Theme button is removed from the main toolbar; theme controls live in settings. The Mac uses its standard application File menu. Fluid rendering and low-latency interaction remain acceptance requirements, not completed claims.
Local files and interchange
| Format / workflow | Scope |
|---|---|
| Macadam documents | Native document files, save/save-as, supported insert/merge and undo/history |
| STEP | Supported solids/assemblies import and export |
| Fusion bundles | Folder/ZIP transfer described above |
| SVG/DXF/PDF | Supported vector/sketch interchange |
| PNG/JPEG | Reference/backdrop images |
| STL/OBJ | Supported mesh import/export |
| Mesh recognition | Suitable planar/cylindrical/conical geometry can be recognized; arbitrary mesh-to-parametric recovery is not claimed |
| Loading | Progress and cancellation; cancellation opens a new empty document |
| Loading visualization | Incremental geometry/graph presentation exists; native animation/camera-follow parity is still in progress |
No IGES, 3MF or other format is implied simply by its presence in another CAD product.
Encrypted Cloud Library and collaboration
| Feature | Scope |
|---|---|
| Encrypted designs | Cloud document payloads and supported previews/catalog information |
| Rename | Change encrypted document titles |
| Duplicate | Independent document identity/key |
| Delete | Confirmed deletion |
| Folders | Nested organization and breadcrumb navigation |
| Move | Move documents/folders with cycle guards |
| Delete folder | Reparent its children rather than implicitly deleting contained designs |
| Encrypted organization | Names and folder organization stay encrypted |
| Recovery | Recovery codes across browsers/devices and email confirmation flows |
| Concurrent updates | Catalog compare-and-swap conflict handling |
| Collaboration | Document synchronization with encrypted relay transport |
See Cloud Library organization. Recovery credentials and live AI pairing are separate concepts; recovering a library does not grant an AI access to an arbitrary tab.
